Rahul coming from the Jalandhar District of Punjab, he realised the importance of education from his mother, who was a principal of a school for more than two decades and now runs her NGO for improving the quality of education. As an individual interested in exploring new places and learning about the diversity of the country, Rahul worked in I-PAC and actively participated in the electoral processes of Meghalaya.
During his time at IITG, he met and interacted with people from diverse backgrounds, helping him unlearn several societal prejudices and build on his own perspective. He was also engaged in various co-curricular activities at IITG, which helped him develop people management skills. His interest in education motivated him to study and present his research on the topic, ‘Linkages between Justice, Social Justice and Education: Looking DNEP 2019 through the lens of Social justice’. Rahul is eager to implement educational policies at the grassroots that will help children in their daily life. He firmly believes that curriculum is not a holy book, which cannot be questioned, hence every stakeholder should contribute to designing the curriculum, and continuously work towards updating it with recent development and its subsequent evolution. Although Rahul has gained his knowledge and skills during his internships and professional life, he has always noticed a wide disconnect between policies on paper and their implementation on the ground. He intends to understand the problems more closely and present them to the policymakers and masses in such a way that it's easier for them to understand with the help of data visualization tools.
